Our Privacy Policy
The short version
Free Book Finder does not collect, store, or share any of your personal data. We run no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking, and the extension sets no cookies. We never see your searches, and we have nothing to sell, because we hold nothing.
How searches work
When you search, your query is sent directly from your browser to the book sources you are searching — Open Library, Project Gutenberg (via the Gutendex API), Google Books, and the public search pages of the bookshops checked for match counts — and, if you use it, to the Google Custom Search engine. Results come straight back to your browser. Your queries and results never pass through our servers, because we have none.
What third parties may collect
Those outside services may collect data of their own when you use them — for example, your IP address or your search query — under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. Google's policy is here: Google Privacy Policy. The same applies to the other sources listed above; please check their policies on their own sites. If you click through to a bookshop or retailer, that site's privacy policy applies from that point on.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the extension starts collecting something — this page will be updated and the date above will change. We will never quietly start collecting data under an old version of this policy.
